Bryant's proposed research seeks to better understand the current and
future fate of imported water in semi-arid metropolises, such as Los
Angeles. To accomplish this, a fully-coupled and distributed
surface/subsurface flow model will be applied to the Los Angeles Basin
with unique development of an anthropogenic module to account for
irrigated and highly altered landscapes. The knowledge gained through
development and application of the model will improve both our
understanding and prediction of urban runoff and groundwater recharge
dynamics.
