Statement of Teaching Interest

I strive to make my courses exciting and challenging for students. I utilize data from real-world engineering projects in my courses, which challenges students to handle the uncertainties and heterogeneities that exist in geologic materials that are often neglected in overly-simplified classroom assignments. I devote considerable one-on-one effort to each student, often holding meetings outside of my scheduled office hours. I realize that different students adopt different approaches to learning and I do my best to vary my lecturing style to accommodate.
