Geotechnical Engineering
Welcome to the Geotechnical Engineering Group in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at UCLA

|
Our diverse research interests, particularly in geotechnical earthquake engineering, support an excellent educational experience for our graduate students who are highly sought after and comprise many of the leaders and “rising stars” in the profession. One of the strengths of our program is its relatively personal size - faculty work closely with students inside and outside of the classroom. We provide individual attention to students that cannot be replicated in some of larger programs in California and elsewhere. This shows in the quality of the education that is received and the performance of graduates in the profession.
Our Master of Science (MS) program provides in-depth coverage of Geotechnical Engineering topics needed to practice at the highest level, and is typically completed in just nine months. For those interested in more in-depth study, the Ph.D. program offers students the opportunity to work closely with faculty on many of the most significant problems facing our profession. Our Ph.D. students are an elite group, recognized by innumerable external awards, appointments to faculty positions in the US and around the world, and often-cited peer-reviewed publications.
If you are interested in submitting an application to join our group, feel free to contact us with questions about our graduate program.
Sincerely,
Geotechnical Engineering Faculty
