Pia Ramos, a graduating Ph.D. student advised by civil and environmental engineering professor Shaily Mahendra, received a Fulbright postdoctoral fellowship at Technion Israel to study the biofouling process using atomic force microscopy, to understand some possible mechanisms responsible for biofouling of fouling-resistant surfaces.

In the Mahendra lab, Ramos’s research focused on interactions between water contaminants and surfaces for applications such as contaminant removal or biofouling prevention.

Congratulations!
