Gaurav Sant, UCLA associate professor of civil and environmental engineering and holder of the Edward K. and Linda L. Rice Endowed Term Chair in Materials Science, will receive the American Concrete Institute’s 2016 Walter P. Moore, Jr. Faculty Achievement Award.

The award recognizes new faculty members for excellence and innovation in the teaching of concrete design, materials, or construction. Sant was cited “for integrating the study of cementitious materials, including concepts of sustainability and the impact of cement and concrete on the environment, into general undergraduate materials engineering courses and thus encouraging undergraduate student interest in cementitious materials research and the cement-based materials industry.”

The Award honors the late Walter P. Moore, Jr., an ACI Fellow, former ACI Board member, and a structural engineer and educator in Texas.
