UCLA civil and environmental engineering professor Eric Hoek has been selected to receive the 2022 Athalie Richardson Irvine Clarke Prize given by the National Water Research Institute (NWRI). The recognition is one of the highest honors in water research, science, technology or policy in the United States.

Hoek is also the Director of the Sustainable LA Grand Challenge, a UCLA campus-wide initiative in partnership with Los Angeles to help the city and county become the world’s most sustainable city by 2050. The professor is also a faculty scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
