Congratulations to Onja Davidson Raoelison, a UCLA Civil and Environmental Engineering graduate, who was selected as one of the 2024 Women in Science Incentive Prize (WISIP) winners. Awarded by The Story Exchange, this prestigious prize recognizes 5 women scientists addressing the devastating impacts of climate change with this year’s focus on extreme events. Winners were selected through a rigorous two-step review by judges from several universities and The Story Exchange editors. Onja’s research at Stanford School of Medicine investigates how wildfires can increase the risk of infectious diseases by spreading pathogenic microbes.
