Jishan Wu, Ph.D. student advised by civil and environmental engineering professor Eric Hoek, is one of the recipients of the 2021 AMTA/ Reclamation Fellowships for Membrane Technology. The fellowships are a joint venture of the American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) and Bureau of Reclamation.

Wu’s research, Ultra-High Pressure RO Membranes for the Lowest Cost and Energy Approach to Achieve Minimum Liquid Discharge, explores the “development of novel RO membranes that tolerate ultra-high pressures to realize minimal and zero liquid discharge at a significantly lower energy and cost than conventional thermal distillation processes.”

“Jishan is a highly motivated, talented and passionate individual who will no doubt become a leader in our field,” Professor Hoek said, “[Jishan is] en route to making a positive difference in the world around him.”

Congratulations, Jishan!
