Kristida Lavy Chhour, an undergraduate student advised by assistant professor Sanjay Mohanty, has been awarded the 2022 Graduate Research Fellowship by the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Chhour’s research for the NSF aims to determine whether and how microplastics from biosolid fertilizer may carry heavy metals into crops and their impact on food security.

The Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is the first of its kind that directly gives support to graduate students in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. The program has funded over 60,000 Graduate Research Fellowships since 1952.

Congratulations, Kristida!
