TerraStryke is a small vendor supplying patented and proprietary biostimulation additives to the envi-ronmental remediation industry. The majority of our work involves application of the additives of choice to the subsurface to treat contaminated soils and groundwater. Our strategy is to utilize biostimulation to amend the treatment zone by providing necessary additive components to reverse the stress being experience by native microbial populations. Applying principles of ecosystem routinely used in zoology and botany needs to be accepted in the microbial world.

Much of the small town of Centralia, Pennsylvania, has disappeared because of a fire in abandoned coal mines that ignited in 1962 and still burns today. Reporter and author David DeKok will talk about how the fire started, why it was never put out, and how the people of the town fought back and eventually won relocation in the early 1980s, with special emphasis on the engineering challenges posed by the fire.
