UCLA’s chapter of CalGeo (California Geotechnical Engineering Association) received the 2016 Rising Star Award. In addition, the Los-Angeles Geo-Institute awarded two UCLA students with scholarships. Parisa Bozorgchami is a senior Civil and Environmental Engineering student who will be continuing to the UCLA Civil and Environmental Engineering M.S. program in Fall focusing on Geotechnical Engineering. Yi Tyan Tsai is a doctoral candidate in the UCLA Civil and Environmental Engineering Geotechnical Engineering group under the advisement of Dr. Scott Brandenberg and Dr. Jonathan Stewart. These scholarships are intended to encourage entry of accomplished students into the geotechnical profession. Recipients have demonstrated a strong growth potential in geotechnical engineering as well as outstanding achievements in their school and community.
