Gaurav Sant, director of the Institute for Carbon Management (ICM) and a professor of civil and environmental engineering, has been named one of UCLA’s top 25 inventors of the 21st century. In 2021, Sant developed the Equatic Carbon Removal Process, a groundbreaking technology that removes carbon dioxide from seawater while producing carbon-negative hydrogen, a clean fuel.
