ASCE at UCLA students competed at the Pacific Southwest Conference (PSWC) hosted at Cal Poly SLO in San Luis Obispo, California on April 4 – 6, 2019. UCLA placed second overall out of 18 schools, which is a significant accomplishment for our chapter and projects. Five out of our seven competing projects placed in the top 3, with the Environmental Design team and Sustainable Dam both placing first. Transportation placed second, and Timber Design Build and Concrete Canoe both placed third. We also placed second in the Daniel Mead Technical Paper, fourth in GeoWall, and fifth in Surveying. Overall, students had a great time at the conference participating in projects and sports, cheering on their teams, and meeting people from other schools.
