Having completed his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at UCLA and subsequently serving as a postdoctoral researcher, Prof. Cui has recently achieved a significant milestone by securing a faculty position as an Assistant Professor at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). Prof. Cui’s academic journey commenced with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Shandong University, followed by his doctoral studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, specializing in additive manufacturing and metamaterials.
Between 2020 and 2022, Prof. Cui dedicated his efforts as a postdoctoral scholar at UCLA to advancing multi-material 3D printing platforms and exploring the development of multi-functional metamaterials. In 2023, he transitioned to The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), where he assumed the role of Assistant Professor.
Prof. Cui’s impactful research has been featured in prestigious journals such as Science, Nature Electronics, Nature Materials, Materials Horizons, and Advanced Functional Materials. Beyond his publications, he has actively contributed to the international academic community, serving as a reviewer for seven journals and securing two patents in additive manufacturing in the United States. Prof. Cui’s recent appointment underscores his dedication to advancing research and education within the dynamic academic landscape of Guangzhou.
