The Structural/Earthquake engineering graduate students from CEE243A and 246, and Professors Burton and Wallace, visited the Tower 3 of the Metropolis project and the KPFF office in downtown Los Angeles on Friday afternoon, April 6. Tower 3 is a 60-story reinforced concrete core wall building that was designed using the alternative procedure outlined in the Los Angeles Tall Buildings Guidelines. Construction of the structural system is complete. The site tour was hosted by Drew Wesling, Senior Project Manager for AECOM/Tishman. Following the visit to the Metropolis site, the group was hosted by Aaron Reynolds (MS, UCLA), Managing Principle of the KPFF Structural, and Neha Yadev (UCLA, MS) from the KPFF Civil for an office tour and a discussion related to job search strategies. The afternoon ended at Karl Strauss Brewery.
