The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Region 9 Awards Luncheon, hosted at the South San Francisco Conference Center, brought together leaders in civil engineering to recognize outstanding achievement, innovation, and service across California. The event recognizes winners of both Individual and Project awards across a broad range of categories, honoring leadership and excellence in advancing the civil engineering profession throughout the state. The projects highlighted at the luncheon exemplify technical excellence while delivering meaningful, lasting benefits to the communities they serve, underscoring the vital role of civil engineering in shaping California’s infrastructure and future.

Among this year’s distinguished recipients was Mahsa Sheykhsoltan, B.S. ’19 CEE, Project Engineer, HNTB, who received the 2026 Outstanding Practitioner Advisor Award. This recognition celebrates her sustained commitment to mentorship and her dedicated service to the UCLA ASCE Student Chapter, where she has played a key role in guiding and inspiring future civil engineers.

Congratulations to Mahsa Sheykhsoltan on this well-deserved achievement and recognition of her impactful contributions to the profession and the next generation of engineers.
